Service Details

Nancy Kay Hausauer, 76, passed away on November 1, 2013 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, due to complications from lymphoma. Nancy died with her husband Don at her side.

Nancy was born Nancy Kay Polze on May 7, 1937 in Muscatine, Iowa, to Emil and Elsie Polze. Nancy grew up in Muscatine and graduated from Muscatine High School in 1955. After graduating, Nancy worked at First National Bank of Muscatine, and in 1965 she married Don Hausauer. They had two children, Brenda and Brian. The family moved to West Des Moines, Iowa in 1974.

Nancy was a loving grandmother, mother, wife, and friend. She loved spending time with her family friends and relatives, with whom she shared stories and laughter, and the best almond roca and Christmas cookies you could find.

Nancy loved the comforts of home, where everything was meticulously organized, music was always playing on the stereo, the garden bloomed with beautiful Double Delight roses, and an adventure was waiting in a novel near her armchair.

She enjoyed golf, dining out with friends, and was an active member of St. Mark Lutheran Church.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Bill. She is survived by her husband Don; her children Brenda and Brian; and her grandchildren, Micah Blomberg (son of Brenda and Les Blomberg), and Camilla Hausauer (daughter of Brian and Natalia Hausauer).

The visitation will be at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, on Tuesday, November 5 between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m. The funeral service will occur at St. Mark Lutheran Church in West Des Moines on Wednesday, November 6 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception and lunch at the church, and a graveside service following. Nancy will be buried at Resthaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Mark Lutheran Church or to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.
