Service Details

Raymond Kouski, 77, of Norwoodville passed away Saturday, July 28, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center of complications following heart surgery. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday August 2, 2007 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Burial will take place in Berwick Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ray was born in Swan, Iowa on February 13, 1930, the son of Frank and Lula Kouski, who preceded him in death.
Ray served in the Korean war with the US Army where he received a purple heart, He was a lifetime member of the VFW.
Ray was a tire builder at Firestone, retiring after 45 years in 1993.
His greatest passions were his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved mowing the yard and spending time in his garage.
Ray is survived by his wife of 52 years Bonnie,his children; Rayma Sue “Sis” of Altoona, Greg Newton of Des Moines, his grandchildren; Timmie (Morgan) Hunter of Grinnell, Kortnie (Ron) Carney of Pleasant Hill and Kylee(Edgar) Valenzuela of Norwoodville, Great Grand Children; Lexi and Kailyn, Kenzie, Logan and Rylee and Dakoda and Dalten. Ray is also survived by three sisters; Roberta (Jim) Young of Des Moines, Reta (Butch) Robey of Des Moines and Ruth (Roger) McKeever of Altoona and many nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends. He was preceeded in death by an infant son, Raymond and two brothers; Robert and Roland Kouski
