Service Details
Irene Backstrom, of Norwalk, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2013, at the Regency Care Center in Norwalk. Irene was born on January 19, 1918, in Kirksville, MO, to B.E. and Anna Courtney.
Irene leaves behind her son, Roy (Delores) Sanford; daughter, Glennis (Dwayne) McAninch; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Backstrom.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Unity Pointe Hospice in memory of Irene.

My sympathy for Irene's family. I remember her well as she attended my wedding in 1971 while visiting Calif. She was known to me as Aunt Irene while married to my Uncle Bill. My parents Mary Kay and Pete often visited her while in D. M. My last visit with Irene was 2010 and she remembered us.
