Dustan "Dusty" James Towne
October 20, 2013
Dustan “Dusty” James Towne, 29, passed away at Methodist Hospital on October 20, 2013. Services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines with visitation on Thursday, October 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. and the funeral service on Friday, October 25 at 10:00 a.m.
Dustan was born on February 15, 1984 in Des Moines, IA to Dona Ludwig and Joseph Towne. He grew up in Des Moines and worked for Martin Grading and Landscaping; a perfect fit as he loved being outdoors and running his “Big Roll Machine”. Dustan had many talents. He enjoyed fishing and in particular ocean fishing off Port Hueneme, CA. He was a hobby chef and enjoyed experimenting with various dishes and then of course eating them. He was a bass guitar player and loved jamming with his friends. But most of all, Dustan loved being with his family and friends and was known for his kind heart and his smile. His smile could warm hearts and open doors – I can’t imagine what he’s getting away with now.
He is loved and will be greatly missed by his parents; Dona (Don) Ludwig, Joe (Pam) Towne; his grandparents, Don and Maxine Ludwig, Harold and Leona Towne; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Dustan is also survived by his siblings, Aleasha (Mike) Dodds and Vincent Anderson; nieces, Ella and Audrey Dodds; and by his second family, Dee Anderson and other loving relatives and special friends. Dustan was preceded in death by his uncle, Jerry Krenz; and by Bob Anderson.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in honor of Dustan. Online condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

I've never been able to grieve you my friend. I've already built to big a wall from my mom's death when I was a kid. I became a professional at abusing whatever I could get my hands on. I miss you alot and I miss having your back when you got to wasted. We shared so many unforgettable moments and I wish we could talk about them all. I'm doing my best to straighten up and make you proud because you know who I truly am. I let you in my heart that I keep so heavily guarded. I love you Dusty.

Dona, Don, and Maxine, I just heard about this the other day. My heart absolutely sank! I am so sorry for your loss. Dusty was an amazing young man. I always enjoyed seeing him and giving him crap because he would give it right back to me. I wish I would have know, I would have come to the funeral. My heart and prayers are with you all. Our family shared the main floor at Methodist CCU. The love, prayers and concern were abundant as we all waited the outcome of our loved ones. When our father passed, my sister and family based the decision to donate on Dusty's situation and although we weren't able to help Dusty we have inner peace we helped someone. Our love to you and your family and may you find peace through the upcoming days. Keep the happy memories in your hearts.

Even in this difficult time Joe, you were so positive. I never got a chance to meet Dustan but he must have been one heck of a young man. I am so sorry that the hope we all had when I was there last week faded in such a difficult way. On behalf of myself and the Texada family, please accept our deepest thoughts.

We are so sorry and deeply sadden for the lost of Dustan. Your bright smile and cheerfulness will be missed. Dustan was a hard worker and a very dear friend to my son Sam. He worked so hard and was such great help to Carla and I doing a rehab on a house this summer. Never complained about the heat and the hard dirty work that he did on that house. God bless your soul Dustan. We grieve with your family. You were an awesome young man!
