Frances L. Witzenburg

Frances L. Witzenburg was born on April 15, 1915, in Des Moines, Iowa, to LeRoy and Loesa Law. She graduated from East High School in 1933and married Murry Woodrow Witzenburg on July 5, 1933. They celebrated 72 years of marriage. To this union three sons were born, Richard, Gary and Dennis. Frances worked at Ungles Bakery and retired from Meredith Corporation. She loved to play cards, dance and listen to Big Band music. She looked forward to attending the East High Alumni and Class Reunions until Murray’s passing in 2005. She also enjoyed antiquing and traveling.

Frances passed from this life on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Parkridge Specialty Care in Pleasant Hill. She was 98 years old.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at Oakwood Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, Iowa.

Left to cherish her memory are two of her sons, Richard and his wife, Rosemary of Des Moines, Iowa and Dennis and his wife, Charlotte of Nashville, Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Nena of Chevy Chase, Maryland; six grandchildren, Michael, Greg, Lisa (Brad) Guyton, Gary, Jr., Dianna (Doug) Reader, and Erika; four great-grandchildren, Christina, Christian, Tommy and Ty; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Murray, son, Gary and two brothers, Perry and Homer.

The family would like to thank Carla and all the nurses and staff at Parkridge Specialty Care and Hospice Unit for their outstanding and compassionate care.
