Sophia Welch

Sophia Halas Welch became an angel of Heaven on Wednesday, October 16, 2013. Sophia was born on March 25, 2013, to Brian and Shelby (Gierstorf) Welch.

She was her mommy’s “gigglestick” and her daddy’s “Sophs.” She was just learning how to crawl and loved playing with her cousins. Sophia loved to snuggle, was such a sweetheart with a loving soul. Her big sis, Reagan, ALWAYS had her laughing and even though her time on this earth was brief, she made big imprints on the hearts of many.

Those left behind to cherish her memory, are her mommy and daddy; her sister, Reagan; brother, Brady; grandparents, Deloris Welch and Ladean and Jane Gierstorf; aunts, Teresa Phillipson, Tana (Dean) Espenchied and Emily (John) Trewin; uncles, David (Jane) Welch and David (Heather) Gierstorf; great-grandmother, Amelia Wiegel; and many cousins.

She will be held in Heaven by her great-grandparents, Elmer and Lorraine Gierstorf and LaVerne Wiegel; grandpa, Ronald Welch and her aunt, Lori Terbeek.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 21, 2013, at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5615 SW 14th Street. Family will greet friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., on Sunday, October 20, 2013, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Sophia will be laid to rest at Norwalk Cemetery.
