Maxine Brown, 85, was born December 23, 1927 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Effie Thomas. She passed away October 11, 2013 at Kennybrook Village in Grimes, Iowa.
Maxine retired from Cardinal Cleaners after many years of service. She was a member of Grace Church in Des Moines. In her free time, she enjoyed solving puzzles and playing computer games.
Maxine is survived by her children, Rebecca, David and Mary; grandchildren, Shannon and Heather; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lou Evans and Sadie Kennedy; brothers, Jerry Thomas, Tom Thomas, Frank Thomas and David Thomas, as well as a host of other family and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burton Brown; brother, Dick Thomas, sister, JoAnn Miller and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2013 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
