Karen Ann Long
October 09, 2013
Karen Ann Long, 68, was born October 23, 1944 in Panora, Iowa, daughter of Harry and Fern (Minary) Stringer. She passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 9, 2013.
Karen grew up in Panora and was the fourth of five siblings. In August of 1964, she married the love of her life, Donald Long, and to this blessed union one son, Donovan, was born in 1971. Karen gained a daughter-in-law, Stacey, in 1996. Her family grew again in 1999 and 2002 as she was blessed with two beautiful granddaughters, Rory Ann and Katrina.
Karen spent 30 years as an administrative clerk in the insurance industry. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA), and loved participating in numerous activities through that group. Karen enjoyed gardening; but above all else, she treasured the time spent with her family, especially her granddaughters.
Karen is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Donald Long; son, Donovan (Stacey) Long; granddaughters, Rory Ann and Katrina Long; brothers, Gary (Carol) Stringer and Ron Stringer; other loving relatives and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 14, 2013 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery.

Don & Family
So sorry for your loss. As you know, I have known Karen for over 30 years. She was a very good friend, but to me she was family. Whether we were going to ABWA meetings, working on committees together I knew I could count on her, and she could count on me. Maybe we didn't talk on the phone, we did on FB. Even if it was to say Hi or ask for help in playing a game. I will miss her dearly.
She is gone but truly not forgotten. Take Care

Don: I'm not sure you will remember me but, I worked with Karen and I'm thinking it was at EMC. I went camping with you two once. That was my one and only time camping. Karen was a good person and I'm sure she'll be missed.

My dear Stacey, my heart goes out to you and your family. I am holding you in my prayers as God is holding you in His arms. Allow your friends to hold you up, until you are able to again stand on your own. We love you and will always. We cry with you and wish we could 'fix' it, but only God can do that. I am here for you anytime.
