Lois Elizabeth Ruggiero, 96, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family Monday, September 30, 2013.
Lois was born September 15, 1917 to John and Mable Sapp in Vandalia, Illinois. On July 8, 1944 she married the love of her life and childhood sweetheart, Fred Ruggiero. She retired from the Social Security Administration where she had worked as a claims representative for many years. Lois was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Lois is survived by her son, Vincent (Kay) Ruggiero; daughter, Cathie (David) Fegley; granddaughters, Nicole (Terry) Coffman, Natalie (Marc) Cataldo and Gina Ruggiero; great-grandchildren, Vinnie, Jake, Cassie, Nick, Luke and Anthony; brother-in-law, George Funaro; sisters-in-law, Kay Funaro, Mary Rose Cardamone and Anna Marie Ruggiero; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; cousin, Julie Collins; and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred T. Ruggiero.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the Rosary recited at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, October 3, 2013 St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in loving memory of Lois.

To Family Members: I remember the time when I went to Kathy as a beautician and Lois was always there and so pleasant. I hadn't seen her in years, but will always remember how nice she was to everyone who came into the shop. I was honored to work with Lois at Social Security & was saddened by her death. My thoughts are with the family.

My career with Social Security overlapped Lois's for a relatively short time; however, I remember her as good person as well as a good person to work with. My sympathies go out to all of you in her loss. May you find comfort in your faith as she did.
