Joyce Lawrence

Joyce Lawrence, 77, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013 surrounded by her loving family.

Joyce was born February 6, 1936 in Des Moines, Iowa to Vernon and Lenna Lawrence. She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking and reading romance novels. Joyce was a legendary pie maker and baker; pumpkin bread was one of her specialties. Joyce enjoyed gospel music and was a strong, smart woman who always did things her way.

Joyce is survived by her sister, Judy (Stan) Gourd, sister-in-law, Julie Barker, special friend, Teresa Gourd, cousins, Phyllis and Carolyn, and many special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Ray, Joann, Shirley and Vern.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines with burial to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, also at the funeral home.
