Irene Helen Korfe Cole
(February 20, 1930 –September 25, 2013)

Irene Cole passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on September 25, 2013.

Irene Cole was born on February 20, 1930 at Windom, Minnesota. She was born to Harm and Anna Korfe. Irene was the youngest of twelve children.

She was united in marriage with Eldon Cole on June 14, 1952.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Eldon and their three children; a son Bradley (Melissa) Cole, daughter Barbara (Paul) Schmitt, son Brian (Marla) Cole, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, three brothers, and one sister.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and five sisters.

Irene was an awesome wife, amazing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, compassionate nurse, loving neighbor and friend, and she will be missed beyond measure.

There will be a Celebration of Life service Friday, October 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel at Valley View Village, 2571 Guthrie Avenue, Des Moines, IA.
