Paul Peterson

Paul Irwin Peterson of Johnston, Iowa, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2013. He was born October 30, 1924, to William and Thea (Egemo) Peterson of Kelley, Iowa. Paul served in the Marine Corps during WWII. On July 2, 1949, he married Dorothy Ann Thompson of Ames, Iowa. Paul loved animals, and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears.

Paul is survived by his daughter, Patricia Peterson; sons, Erick (Bonnie) Peterson, Michael (Michael Ouellette) Peterson, and Steven (Mary Kay) Peterson; three grandchildren, Jeremy (Alexis) Peterson, Jamie (Troy) Webber, and Gregory Peterson; six great-grandchildren, Jessica Webber, Jordan Webber, Tyler Webber, Damion Peterson, Savannah Peterson, and Micayla Peterson; and his brother, Jerome. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy; his great-grandson, Colby Peterson; his parents; his brothers, William and Leonard; and his sisters, Geverna Pfrimmer, Edith Amodeo, Ella Essex, Esther Maxwell, and Thelma Keltner.

A memorial visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday, September 27, 2013, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League in loving memory of Paul.
