Marjorie “Marge” Fern Bruner passed away Monday, September 23, 2013, at Valley View Village. She was 100 years old.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph W. Bruner; daughter, Norma J. Byers; step-daughter, Shirley M. Struve; step-granddaughter, Kathy Jo Brickner; brothers, George Sego, Clifford Reeves, and Joe Reeves; and sister, Madelene Reeves.

Marjorie is survived by her step-son, Ronald (Joann) Bruner; step-granddaughters, Karen A. Poinke, Judy (Brian) Pounds, Carlene Nothwehr, Cheryl Christensen, and Sandy (Mike) Lowe; step-grandsons, Ronald J. Bruner, Frank W. Bruner, Carl (Pam) Struve, Bill (Cheryl) Struve, Claude (Nancy) Struve, Jim Byers, and Robert Byers; nieces, Diane Cromwell, Nancy Salmon, and Katherine Patterson; and nephew, Wayne Reeves. She is also survived by other nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

Marjorie was born February 12, 1913 in Kensington, Nova Scotia, Canada to Eldon and Emma Reeves. Her family moved to Des Moines, Iowa when she was five. Her mother passed away a short time later and she was adopted by Charles and Nellie Sego at age 12. Marjorie graduated from East High School in 1932. She married Ralph Bruner and to this union one child was born. Marjorie retired from the Iowa State Legislative Office in Des Moines. She was a member of the Senior Singers of Des Moines, Easton Place United Methodist Church and Eastern Star. Marjorie enjoyed her church, playing cards, and bingo.

Services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, September 25, also at the funeral home.
