Janet Ellen Stover, 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at UnityPoint Hospice Taylor House.
Janet was born January 15, 1944, in Prairie City, the daughter of Clyde and Lois Jarnagin. She was a longtime member of Prairie City United Methodist Church. Janet retired from the Des Moines Public School System after many years of faithful service.
Janet is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Harry Stover, Jr.; sons, Matt (Kimberly) Stover and Vince (Hollie) Stover; grandchildren, Gabe, Ethan, Caleb, Isaac, Layla, and Oliver; sisters, Nancy Pieper and Ann (Don) Pendroy; other loving relatives; and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Per Janet’s request, her body has been donated to Des Moines University for research and there are no services planned at this time.
Memorial contributions may be made to UnityPoint Hospice Taylor House in loving memory of Janet.

I never knew Janet, but I was friends with Matt in the Marine Corps and in college. Knowing the caliber of son that she raised, her departure is a big loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the family, but please take comfort in the fact that her impact on the world will be felt for generations to come.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of someone so sweet. I worked with Janet at DMPS for years until her retirement. She was never at a loss for words and livened up our work may times.
