Mary Renquist Robinson Rapp

Mary Rapp passed from this life on September 14, 2013 at her home, Calvin Community, in Des Moines. Mary was born in Des Moines on November 19, 1927 to Leslie and Nyna (Soderstrom) Renquist. She lived most of her life in Des Moines and later Colorado Springs, CO before returning to Des Moines in 1988.

Mary wed Gerald Robinson on March 3, 1951. Together they raised five children. She married Robert Rapp on June 16, 2000. Mary was a member of P.E.O. Chapter IE and Westminster Presbyterian Church. She retired from the P.E.O. International Office in 1994.

Survivors include son, Steven Robinson of Pensacola, FL; daughters, Sandra Wainwright Rossander (Robert) of Stanton, IA, Ellen Robinson of Des Moines, Janet Fitzpatrick of Nevada, IA, and Gail Robinson (Michael Wolyniec) of Takoma Park, MD; cousin, Bruce Ray (Katy); lifelong friend, Sigrid Thill; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by Robert's four children and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter; Gerald Robinson; and husband, Robert Rapp.

A memorial service for Mary is planned for Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel at Westminster Presbyterian Church at Beaver and Franklin. A reception will be held that afternoon from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the Atrium at Calvin Community, 4210 Hickman Road in Des Moines. A family graveside service is scheduled for a later date.
