Charles “Red” Miller, of Indianola, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Unity Point Methodist in Des Moines. Chuck was born on July 22, 1931 in Numa, Iowa to Charles and Bessie (Carter) Miller.

Chuck served proudly in the U.S. Army. He retired after 30 plus years with the Rock Island Railroad. Chuck was also a 50 year Mason. He loved his family and his friends.

Chuck leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Dee; children, daughters, Sandy (Joe) Oatts and Sherri “Sam” Miller; his son, Mike (Annette) Miller; his special niece, Pam Hill; grandchildren, Jenifer, Shayne, Tiffany and Matthew; eight great-grandchildren; his loyal companion, Tex; and other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Albert and his sister, Frances.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Family will greet friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 16 at the funeral home. There will be a private family inurnment at Sunset Memorial Gardens at a later date.

The family would like to extend a thank you and appreciation to those at Powell III Methodist, Veteran’s Hospital and Chuck’s Rock Island Railroad family for all the kindness and care they have been shown.
