Bernedene E. “Pete” Ringgenberg passed away at Bright Kavanagh House with her family by her side on Monday, September 9, 2013. Bernedene was born on December 7, 1925 to Clarence and Doris McCoun.
Bernedene was a stay at home mom and grandma for many years, then began a career at JCPenney where she retired after 20 years of service. She always loved attending her grandchildren’s birthday parties, family celebrations and the holidays with family gatherings.
She is survived by her children Michael (Kathleen) Swinehart, Jack (Marilyn) Ringgenberg, Patti Tyler and MeriBeth Ringgenberg; three sisters Vicci (Carl) Blackford, Mary Lou Riggle and Virginia Blackford. She had 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lester “Shorty” Ringgenberg, daughter Sheila Lincoln, son Rex Ringgenberg, sister Pat Elliot, and brother Dan McCoun.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, with a graveside service beginning at 4 p.m. at Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Bright Kavanagh House for their kindness and caring.

I worked at jc penneys as a young adult, and Bernedene was always the sweetest person to me. I have always remembered her fondly when looking back. Sorry to hear of her passing. My sympathies to the family.

I am very sorry to hear that Aunt Pete has passed away. I have so many memories of time spent at Aunt Pete's house when I was a girl. She was always so thoughtful and had such a big heart. You touched so many people. You will be missed.

She will be missed. Her sweet voice calling Paul or I over to help with something little but appriciating so much is very heart-felt. Many hugs to the family to find peace.

I was so sorry to hear that Aunt "Pete" passed on. She was always thoughtful and kind to me and my family. After mom died, she made a point to call now and then and on birthdays as well. Many of our conversations leave a smile on my face and in my heart. She will be missed.
