Keith D. Mathews 78, passed away Friday, September 6, 2013. He was born June 9, 1935, to H. Dwight and Laura Mathews in Mt. Union, IA.
Keith worked as a Fuel Attendant for the City of Des Moines for 15 years. He was a Member of Experience Open Bible Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn; daughters, Johanna Bobenhouse, Heidie (Don) Bates, and Naomi (Phil) Waldo; son, Steven (Jan) Mathews; sister, Helen Rush; brothers, Harold, Roy, Ralph, Leslie, David, and Raymond Mathews; as well as 12 grandchildren; and one great-grand-child.
Keith was preceded in death by parents; sister, Darlene; and son-in-law, Scott.
Funeral Services will be held, 11 a.m., Monday, September 9, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. A private family burial will be held at a later date at Pine Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with family from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Keith.

I remember Keith from the Open Bible Church in Winfield Iowa a great place to grow up in. Keith was in my brother Bob,Ralph was in my class and leslie was in my sister Lindas class.We grew up with that familyand wen to church with them sunday morning and nite and Wednesday nite. I thank god every day for my christain parents and their godly influence. IMy dad was killed at 35 and mom died of cancer at 51. It is hard to loose a friend and loved one but when you know you will be with them for eterinity what could be better than that.My deepest sympathies to the Mathews family, some day soon we will all be home.

Evelyn and Family, my deepest sympathies in the passing of Keith. I remember spending many times with your family at your home and other places after church on a Sunday growing up with your family. I also remember the many hours that you and Keith spent assisting my mom and dad @ Maranatha Open Bible. Keith will be missed by your family and everyone, but we all know that he is joined with his friend and my mom and dad in heaven now looking down upon us all...
