Newton Robinson

(Newt) Newton D. Robinson, 80, of Pleasant Hill, formerly of Des Moines and Chariton, died on Monday, July 23, 2007 at his home in Pleasant Hill. A funeral mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church at 10:30 Thursday. Cremation will follow the mass and interment of cremains will be at a later date at the Grimes Cemetery in rural Chariton. A visitation will be held Wednesday from 4-8 P.M. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home where the family will greet friends from 6-8 P.M.
Newt was formerly a superintendent/supervisor for the Des Moines Water Works where he had worked for 35 years. He was a Marine Veteran of WW II and a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation. He was a nature lover and wildlife enthusiast and also enjoyed woodworking, leather craft and music.
He is survived by his wife Colleen Robinson of Pleasant Hill; his children Amy (Maurice) Herold of Indianola, Gina (Dean) Lange of Ankeny, Robbie (Rhonda) Robinson, Cindy (Ted) Erickson and David (Beckie) Robinson all of Des Moines as well as 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Newton and Amy Robinson and his brother Morris.
