Service Details

Louis “Lou” J. Novak, 68, was born June 15, 1945 in Spillville, Iowa, the son of Louis and Virginia Novak. He passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Adair County Memorial Hospital.

Lou worked at Electrolux for over 40 years and proudly served his country in the United States Army.

He was nicknamed “Chowlie” back in high school when he first got in to drumming and playing in bands.

His passion was music. Lou was a drummer and singer for numerous bands throughout his life. One of the first bands he started with named themselves “The Country Boys”. But since they were together for over 25 years, they ended up changing their name to “The Country Gentlemen” to better suit them “aging gracefully.”

Lou was very personable – upbeat, positive and loved life – never met a stranger.

Above all else, he treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2013 at New Life Church, 6036 NE 12th in Pleasant Hill. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the church. Graveside services will be 3p.m. Saturday at Urbana Memorial Cemetery in Urbana, Iowa.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Lou.
