Carol J. Growden, 74, passed away Friday, August 30, 2013, at UnityPoint Hospice Taylor House.

Carol was born April 23, 1939, in Rochester, New York, to Edwin C. and Marjorie (Heffernan) Page. She lived in Plainville, Connecticut, until moving to Des Moines in 1954 at the age of 15. Carol graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1957 and AIB in 1958. She enjoyed cooking, camping, reading and spending time with family and friends. Carol loved people and was very generous and giving. She prided herself in having big dinners and gatherings on Holidays. Her door was always open.

Carol is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Jim Growden; sons, Craig (Mary Kay) Duede of Richmond Hills, Georgia, Tom (Kim) Duede of Des Moines, Steve (Angie) Duede of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Alan Duede of Ozark, Missouri; sister, Marleah Varian; step-sisters, Jane Reuter and Mary Loupee; grandchildren, Erin, Matthew, Megan, Kelsey, Michael, Christopher, Madeline, Cale, and Lindsay; and a host of extended family and beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, David Page; nephew, Joseph Page; and her step-mother, Margaret Page.

The family will greet friends beginning at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013 with a Service of Remembrance at 12 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetary.
