Service Details

Forrest Dean Lambson II passed from this life on August 29, 2013, at his residence in Norwalk, IA. A service in celebration of his life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 8, 2013, at Carlisle United Methodist Church, 405 School Street, Carlisle, IA.

Forrest was born on October 25, 1969, in Omaha, NE to Forrest D. and Alma M. (Ellsworth) Lambson, but moved to Sioux City, IA, with his parents at the age of six months. In Sioux City, he attended Smith Grade School, West Junior High, and West High School, graduating in 1988.

He entered the army in light infantry in December of 1988 and was stationed at Schofield Barracks, HI. In February of 1991, he received a medical discharge due to injuries he sustained during maneuvers in Australia. He then attended Des Moines Area College from 1991 until 1994 while being employed in electronic sales at Sears. In 1994 he became a sales associate with Ramsey Motors, winning their “Salesman of the Year” award in 1995. In 1997 he opened Westgate Auto in Carlisle, IA, as a wholesale buyer and retailer of pre-owned vehicles. Nearly two years later he opened a second Westgate Auto location in Indianola, IA. In 2000 he accepted a position as sales manager for Jordan Motors of Des Moines where he built and maintained relationships with clients, vendors and automotive auctions throughout the midwest.

In 2006, after original injuries he had sustained in the military were exacerbated by two rear end auto collisions, he was declared 100% disabled by both the Veteran’s Administration and Social Security. Although never free from pain, during the ensuing years he continued to be actively involved in his daughters’ activities as long as he was able to do so. He coached soccer and basketball for his two younger daughters. He made being active in all three of his daughters’ lives, as well being present for their school and sports activities, the top priority in his life.

Left to honor his memory are his daughters, Ashley Lambson, age 24, Lexi Lambson, age 16, and Aricka Lambson; age 13, his former wife and special friend, Tami Lambson, his parents, Alma M. Hatfield and Forrest D. Lambson; his sister, Shelly James; his niece and nephew, Katie James and Brock James; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Forrest had always loved cars and motorcycles. He was a competitive risk taker by nature and prior to becoming disabled he enjoyed swimming, cliff diving, boating, and water-skiing. Afterward, he continued to be an avid spectator of many kinds of sports. His priorities were always “family first”, but next in his heart were the soldiers who put their lives in harm’s way and the dogs that support them. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to his daughters, Iowa Wounded Warriors Fund or Paws and Effect.
