Service Details
Sandra (Welch) Thompson, 58, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at UnityPoint Hospice Taylor House.
Sandra was born June 22, 1955, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Eugene and Billie Lou (Snyder) Welch. She was a longtime resident of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and owned the Broken Spoke Bar and Grill.
Sandra is survived by her children, Phillip (Jodi) Leech, Brian (Nano) Leech, and Tammy (Doug) Walls; grandchildren, Mason, Ava, Brooklyn, Logan, Makari, Ahlia, and Uriah; and her sister, Rhonda (Dale) Welch. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Steve Welch.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, with visitation for an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Berwick Cemetery.

We really enjoyed living across from Sandy. My kids loved helping her with her chores. She was always willing to help us out when we needed rides to the store or even taking my kids to school when it rained. She really was more than just a neighbor, she was a friend. I really loved what Brain said about her at the funeral. She has told us that same wrestling story...she was very proud of all her kids!! She will be missed! Venieta Wilson, Jamie Wilson, and Aiden Nissen will miss her very much.

Thinking of you Rhonda and all of Sandy's family. I will always remember the sleep overs that I had with Sandy after the football games on Friday night and the horsebacking riding on Saturdays. We had a blast. I remember our State Fair days with your mom and dad. I was sorry to hear about Sandy. I had lost touch with her over the years. I will be praying for you, her kids and grandkids. Sandy you could ride horses like I wish I could.You was a great person and a hard worker. Ride thoses horses in heaven like you know.
