Joe Thomas

Joe Alfred Thomas, 74, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at Bright Kavanagh in Des Moines.

Joe was born August 10, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Pearl E. and Lena L. (Melson) Thomas, and was a lifelong resident of the area. Joe worked as a logger and as a car salesman at Thomas Used Cars. He enjoyed coon hunting and tinkering in his garage. He was loved by his family and will be greatly missed.

Joe is survived by his wife, Maxine; children, Michelle (Doug) McPherson, Donna (Terry) Graves, Sharon Andrews, and Pattie Thomas; sister, Mary Smith; sister-in-law, Pattie Luce; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with burial to follow at Restland Cemetery in Baxter, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, also at the funeral home.
