John David Thompson

John David Thompson, 86, died August 20, 2013. He will be cremated and per his request there will be no services.

John was born on September 26, 1926 in Unionville, MO to Edith (Sheele) and David Thompson. After graduating from high school, John joined the U.S. Army. When he returned he soon met Charlene Traxler and they were married in 1950. The couple lived in Des Moines and John worked in the heating and air conditioning industry as a Factory Service Engineer, retiring from Carrier after 20 years of service.

John lived to fish! He was a talented jewelry crafter and taught jewelry making at the Des Moines Lapidary Society. John was also a proud 60 year member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local #33.

He is survived by his wife, Charlene Thompson; and son, Greg Thompson of Round Rock, TX. John was preceded in death by his parents, and infant son.
