Betty McCaughey

Betty McCaughey (Grandma Betty), 79, of Des Moines died on July 21, 2007 at her home in Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Capitol City Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 3-8 P.M. on Wednesday evening at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home where the family will greet friends from 5-7 P.M.
Betty had worked at Des Moines Savings Bank, Equitable of Iowa and was an in home child care provider. She enjoyed gardening, spending time in her yard, time with neighborhood children and was famous for her banana bread.
She is survived by her children Linda Jones of Ottumwa, Dennis Dullard, Stephen Dullard, Terrie Phillips and Cathy James all of Des Moines; her sister Barbara Clark of Ottumwa; her brothers Paul Heckart Jr. of Ottumwa and Kenneth Heckart of McAllen, Texas; her 9 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill in 1993. Memorial contributions may be made to the Capitol City Baptist Church Children’s Church and Music Department.
