Service Details

Eunice May Yvonne Sonner, 69, passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2007. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens on NW 60th Avenue, with burial at Berwick Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Yvonne passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2007, at Taylor House. She was born to Enos and Cleo Lingle in Des Moines on August 22, 1937. She was a lifetime resident of Des Moines, and married Gilbert Sonner on October 21, 1955. Yvonne was a homemaker and a partner in business with her husband Gil’s Auto Service and Strange Performance Racing. She shared a love of racing with Gil, having extended family at Knoxville Raceway and throughout the racing community for over 50 years. She loved bowling, crafts, and ceramics, and was an avid sports fan. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gilbert; her children; Donnie (Debby) Sonner of Colfax; Audrey (Chuck) Milosevic of Polk City; and Cindy (Daryl) Saucier of Indianapolis, Indiana; sister, Penny (Dave) Ritchhart of Ankeny; half-sister DeEtte Roberg of Oregon; grandchildren Cory Sonner of Ames, Tracy (Jerry) Grimes of Pontotoc, MS, Chad and Paige Milosevic of Polk City; great grandchildren Trevor and Colton. She is also survived by four nieces and several great nieces and nephews.
