Everett and Laura Faux passed away due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident, Laura on August 10, with Everett following on August 12, 2013.
Laura Lynn was born on June 27, 1951, in Des Moines, to Willis and Fayrene Ellenwood. Everett Eugene was born on November 20, 1950, also in Des Moines, to Loyed and Violet Faux. They graduated from East High School Class of ‘69 as sweethearts and were married soon after. Everett worked most of his life in the fire sprinkler trade. They traveled all over the United States for Everett’s job. Laura worked in banking and insurance. They settled back in Des Moines in 1992 to be closer to family. Everett and Laura enjoyed traveling and cruises and loved being with their friends and family. Their most recent passion was riding their Harley throughout the beautiful countryside. They were loved by so many. They were never apart and now they will watch over all of us together.
Left to cherish their memories are their children, Don Faux (Heather) and Brenda Robinson (Brian); four grandchildren; mother, Fayrene Ellenwood; brothers, Dean (Anita) and Wayne (Linda) Faux and Wayne (Carol) Ellenwood; and sister, Sondra Ridley.
They join two sons, Stephen Michael and Baby Boy Faux; Laura’s father and Everett’s parents, who preceded them in death.
A joint funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 17, 2013, at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 1701 8th Street SW, Altoona. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4 to 8 p.m., also at the church. Cremation will follow the services.

It is still hard to believe, our thoughts and prayers are with all the family now and the difficult days ahead. We will miss them on the bike rides with the group of riders from our park in Florida. The rides just won't be the same. We will also miss Laura coming to the Red Hat lunches and when they would just stop for a chat on their way by our place. They are together now for ever after. Cherish the memories you have.

We send our deepest and most profound sympathy to all family members in this great loss. In the past few days we've rarely stopped thinking of Everett and Laura; and remembering a few special moments shared with them last season in Florida. Every time I look out our bedroom window at our twinkling 'critter' lights; we think of you and how you brought so much cheer to YOUR little corner of Davenport park; by setting up 23 butterfly, hummers; and dragonfly lights all along the front of your yard; and around the corner to the next intersection! They looked so welcoming at night as you round the corner entrance. One day in conversation, I had mentioned to Everett that I LOVE to ride motorcycle; one day he comes knocking at the door. "OK; let's go"! Off we went on a glorious, 45 min. bike ride ; enjoying the wind; and the Florida sunshine! I will always cherish the picture I have of that ride Everett. Shortly after that; seeing we were mighty tired of packing for home; Everett came over and said "let's go to lunch in Orlando tomorrow" . What an adventure!! We still have no idea where we were or how we got there!!! I was always amazed at how that; in such a short time; they knew every back road for miles; and ways we never heard of to get where they wanted to go; AND he never got lost!! Especially Orlando!!! But it was fun; as Laura searched for just the perfect pair of runners in the open air outlet mall; shoes that helped her to walk and didn't hurt her feet. . Then there was that awesome lunch together . I believe it was at the "Steak and Ale" . Even with all the bantering that went back and forth between them, it was very easy to tell they had a great love and admiration for each other. Well, that wouldn't do, I mentioned "ice cream"; nothing would do but Everett had to stop in Kissimmee for ice cream!! We were stuffed; but what a beautiful; memorable day we will never forget. They were GREAT fun; just sorry we didn't get to meet you years sooner!! Next day we hugged you 'good-bye' as we left for Canada; fully intending to spend more fun times together this upcoming season. Laura and Everett; you will be GREATLY missed; and fondly remembered by us; your next door neighbours; and ALL your park family. We are going to miss both Everett and Laura so much. Enjoyed them with all our events and finally talked Laura into joining out Red Hats. Our hearts go out to the whole family.

Deepest sympathy for the loss of your mother and father . I worked with Everett at Camp Dodge for a short time years ago.

My deepest sympathy to you as you mourn the loss of your father and mother. I grew up with Everett being next door neighbors since 3rd grade. Through the years there are many fond memories of Everett, I met Laura in the mid 70's and knew Everett had met the love of his life. I will miss him and Laura. Ecclestes 3;1-8

I am so sorry for your loss. I met Laura when I worked at Principal in the cafeteria and occasionally Everett would come down and have lunch with Laura. They were really special people. We would always talk about East High since I was from the class of 72.
