Joyce M. Kissinger, 82, passed away August 12, 2013, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. She was born in Decatur, Illinois, on December 7, 1930, to John and Zelma (Minor) Ray.
Joyce graduated from East High School. She attended beauty school and became owner and operator of Oak Park Hairstyles for many years. She enjoyed watching sports, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her granddaughters.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jerry; children, Mike (Jeanine) Long and Patti Allen; step-children, Karen Kissinger, Dianne Johnson, and Sandy (Barry) Pottinger; grandchildren, Mick Long, Andy Long, Allison Long, Missey (Dennis) Michel, and Mindy (Jacob) Seeman; step-grandchildren, Alayna Kissinger, Joel (Jordan) Decker and Justin Decker; 11 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Ramona Norman.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Pine Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League in loving memory of Joyce.

I am so sorry to see that Joyce has died. I always thought highly of her and of Jerry and am so sorry we have not gotten together in recent years. You all are in my thoughts & prayers.

My deepest condolences to your family. As a childhood friend, I have many memories of her at softball games and family events. I'm lucky to have had the opportunity to have known her via you. She will be missed. Hugs and prayers to you all during your time of grief.
