Rodrigo Lopez

Rodrigo was born on August 19, 1995, in St. Joseph, MO, to José Luis Lopez and Rosa Elena Oñate. He was entering his senior year at Urbandale High School. Soccer was his passion. Rodrigo was a happy teenager who enjoyed dancing, being with his friends, and church activities. Rodrigo passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, due to a tragic car accident. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Mass of Christian Burial with Fr. Refugio Oñate presiding will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 9, 2013, at Our Lady of the Americas Visitation Catholic Church, 1271 East 9th Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 8, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.

Rodrigo is survived by his parents, Luis and Rosa Lopez; siblings, Gustavo and Diego; maternal grandparents, Cleotilde Melendez and Aurelio Oñate; paternal grandmother, Eloisa Angel; as well as many aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Geronimo Lopez; cousin, Juanita Alicia Lopez; and uncle, José Lopez.
