Catherine "Tena" Jackovich

Catherine “Tena” Jackovich passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Home at the age of 92.

A lifelong Des Moines resident, Tena was born on November 2, 1920, to Joseph and Beatrice (Marino) Tantillo. She attended St. Anthony Catholic School and Lincoln High School. She worked at her father’s fruit market and the Wollen Mill. In 1980, she retired from the telephone company after 30 years of service.

In December of 1946, Tena married Steve Jackovich. They were married 46 years before Steve’s death in 1992.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Steve; brothers, Cheto, Joe, and Vic Tantillo; sisters, Rose Mele and Irene Tantillo; and her niece, Tish Swesey. Tena is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

A graveside service was held at Glendale Cemetery.

Tena was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Anthony Parish. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony Catholic School, 15 Indianola Road, Des Moines, IA 50315, in loving memory of Tena Jackovich.
