John J. Goeders, Jr.

John Julius Goeders, Jr., 90, was born September 14, 1922, in Cylinder, Iowa, the son of John and Margaret (Kliegl) Goeders, Sr. He passed away peacefully Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the Gardens in Des Moines.

John proudly served his country in the Air Force during World War II. He was the Inventor and Founder of True Pitch, Inc., an Altoona founded company in 1970. Above all else, John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who enjoyed time spent with his family.

John is survived by his children, Sharon (Michael) Kouri, Leslie Goodwin, Dennis (Patty) Goeders, Mary “Toni” (Joseph) Pane, and Jon J. Goeders; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Chapman; other loving relatives; and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Phyllis Arlene Goeders, seven siblings, and his parents.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2013, at Ss. John and Paul Catholic Church, 1401 1st Avenue South in Altoona, with a prayer service to begin at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 3, 2013, at the church, with burial to follow at Altoona Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Ss. John and Paul Catholic Church in loving memory of John.
