Alan W. Janson, 61, passed away Sunday July 21, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born April 18, 1952, to Oscar and Marilyn Janson in Des Moines.
Alan worked in the maintenance department at Camp Dodge for over 12 years. He kept busy working in the yard, gardening, cleaning the cars, fishing, and riding his motorcycle.
Alan is survived by his daughter, Tracy (Charlie Campbell) Nash; granddaughter, Ashley Nash; cousins, Bill, Chris, Steve, Debbie, Kathy, and Diane; and many beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; half-brother, Stan Werner; and girlfriend, Jill Wineinger.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Grace Lutheran, 3010 52nd Street, Des Moines. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 121 NW 60th Avenue.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, American Cancer Society, or the family.

Thoughts and Prayers go out to family and friends. Al and I started working at Camp Dodge about the same time. Over the years Al became more than a coworker, He was a friend. He would help out anybody that needed it and I often took him up on that. We even talked about faith from time to time. Thanks for making an impact on my life Al and may you have eternal blessings.

Tracy, we are so sorry to hear about your dad. It is not easy losing your parents. We both know that...I pray that he is in heaven smiling down on us all. Take care and remember all the great times you shared.

Alan was a great guy. Always had a smile on his face when he came into the shop. He was very understanding and nice to talk to. I saw him friday, and we talked like we always do. This morning i was shocked to hear the bad news. I will miss you very much, and i will miss our talks. Great And Wonderful Guy.

Tracy I am so sorry for your loss of your dad, I could tell you were very close. I am so glad that we got to know him and Jill, he was a wonderful guy. It is still such a shock, but just take everything one day at a time. It does eventually get easier. You know where we are, if you need anything. Love you Jerry and Deb Zenkner
