Steven Ray McNeley

Steven Ray McNeley passed peacefully from this earth and into heaven on July 18, 2013. He had fought a long and courageous battle with oral cancer. Steven was born in Des Moines, IA, on March 19, 1952.

He loved music and was a successful drummer in several bands in the Des Moines area for many years. He was an excellent artist and left us with many beautiful drawings that we will always cherish. In 2000 he met and married his loving wife Danette McNeley. Together they moved to Sc in 2008 and worked at Goodrich. Steven was a loving and compassionate person, always ready to lend a hand to friends and family even when he was battling cancer. He had a great sense of humor and was so much fun to be around. We will miss him every day.

He is survived by his wife, Danette, his father M.R. (Bud) McNeley, his step-mother Garneta McNeley, his sisters Judy Eldridge, Nona McNeley, Joy Ritchie, and their spouses (Dennis and Tom), his niece Amy Ritchie, and two step-brothers (Steve and Randy) and a step-sister (Kathy). He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Leona and Jack McNeley.

The family will have a service at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 25 at Hamilton Funeral Home 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, IA 50309. (515) 243-5221.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private burial will be held.
