Ann Hughbanks, 64, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013. She was born July 6, 1949, to Myrtle and Jay Smith in Oskaloosa.
She is survived by her children, Becky (Anthony) Koch, and Ryan (Fiancée Rebecca) Hughbanks; grandchild, Grayson Koch; sister, Carolyn (Dave) Carlson; sister-in-law, Dianne Smith; as well as other relatives and friends.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George and Michael Smith.
Memorial visitation service will be held, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (jdrf.org) in loving memory of Ann.

I just found out about Ann's passing. I am truly saddened. Ann was a great person. My condolences.

So sorry to hear of Ann's passing. She was always very kind to me and I could see how much she loved her family. We had a wonderful time catching up last summer when we bumped into each other. I want to wish you all peace at this difficult time.

I am so sorry to hearing of the passing of Annie. I knew her at Oak Park, Harding and North HS. We walked to and from all of the schools together and at Harding, we'd stop at Woolworth's after school for a cherry soda and sometimes a plate of french fries and discuss our life problems. Life paths do take different directions, although I did see her in Phoenix. Many wonderful memories. I knew her as Louise, as Annie, and as Ann, but she will always be Annie to me. For the family: may you find comfort in the special memories of the one you loved so much. My condolences for your loss.

Anna Louise was a wonderful childhood friend and we shared many giggly moments together walking to school and in confirmation classes. My condolences for your loss.

I was saddened to hear of the death of Anna. We attended Harding Middle School and North High School together. The Psalmist writes in Psalm 116:15, "Precious in the sight of the Lord are the death of His godly ones." May God be your source of strength & comfort as you work through the grieving process. Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. I went completely through school (Oak Park, Harding and North) with Louise (Anna). I'll always remember her and some of the fun we had together. May your memories of her help you through your grief.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Louise (Anna) and her family all attended Our Saviour Lutheran Church and Louise was in my confirmation class, plus we we went to Oak Park, Harding and North together. While we only called each other few times after high school, I have many fond memories of Louise, especially of our church days together.
