Floyd Warren Dare, 88, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Kavanagh on 56th Street.

Floyd was born in Des Moines September 15, 1924, to Floyd E. and Lillian Mae (Lundgren) Dare. He was a U.S. Army veteran. In 1946, he married Delores Scovel. Floyd retired from Armstrong Tire in 1987 after 45 years of service. He was a member of Berean Assembly of God Church and the American Legion.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Delores; children, Norman (Jackie) Dare, Janet (Chris) Bishop, Ronald Dare, and Jenny (Larry) Slight; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia Riggle; and brother, Clyde Dare.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., Friday, July 19, 2013, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, followed by burial at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
