Floyd Warren Dare, 88, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Kavanagh on 56th Street.
Floyd was born in Des Moines September 15, 1924, to Floyd E. and Lillian Mae (Lundgren) Dare. He was a U.S. Army veteran. In 1946, he married Delores Scovel. Floyd retired from Armstrong Tire in 1987 after 45 years of service. He was a member of Berean Assembly of God Church and the American Legion.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Delores; children, Norman (Jackie) Dare, Janet (Chris) Bishop, Ronald Dare, and Jenny (Larry) Slight; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia Riggle; and brother, Clyde Dare.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., Friday, July 19, 2013, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, followed by burial at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

I wanted to thank you for allowing me to sit in the family side at Floyd's Service-Made me feel part of the family. I thought the service was very touching and I enjoyed hearing the stories told about Floyd. Again, I am sorry for your loss. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help in this time of sorrow. Floyd was a special man, and even through years ago, have talked about him many times in my life as a man that you could always depend on, or if you needed help, he was always there. My Dad, Rev. Harry Russell, always said Floyd was a man God loved and blessed. I am sure they are rejoicing together today in all our Father's house. May God grant all of the family a special comfort and knowledge of God's gift to all of us of knowing Floyd.

Praying for you, my Friends. I know that the Lord will be with you and continue to give you peace and grace through this difficult time. I remember when my mom first came to stay with me for the summer; she was about 80 years old and had never flown before, but the highlight of the trip was the fun of being wheeled around the DSM airport by Floyd!
He was a blessing to all who knew him, but we rejoice with you in knowing he is in heaven with our dear Savior - no more suffering or pain, only the joy of being with the Lord!

Sorry for the loss of your Husband, Father and Grandfather. I'am sure he is in a better place and will be taken care of by our Father in Heaven. May God be with all of you with his passing.

I remember when I was young and the Dares lived on the East side. Floyd was always a hard working man. Whenever we stopped by their house he was working on something. We went to Church at the Four Square back then. He was a good friend of my dad, John Collins. They were friends at work and church with; Art Riddle, Eli Tully, Don Dar, Bob Cain, who I think have left us and so have gone to be with the Lord now; Bernard, Bud, Collins and Ivo Graeve who are still with us. Good role models for a boy to have patterned his life after.
