Sandra Reynolds

Sandra Reynolds, 80, passed away on July 13, 2013 with her family by her bedside. Services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.

Sandy was born January 31, 1933 to Dorothy and William Rhoades in Wellman, IA. She graduated from Des Moines East High School in 1952. Richard and Sandy were high school sweethearts and the couple married in February of 1955 after Richard returned from the service. Most of her life was spent in Des Moines raising their three children.

Sandy enjoyed winters in Arizona and spending time with family and friends. She loved to camp and they spent many years at Cutty’s. Sandy also enjoyed traveling, ceramics, and was involved in Campfire Girls with her daughters.

She is survived by her loving husband, Richard of 58 years; daughters, Cass Reynolds DiMaggio of West Des Moines, IA, Marsh Reynolds of West Des Moines, IA; her son, Richard (Shelly) Reynolds, Jr. of Des Moines, IA; her pride and joy grandchildren, RJ and Riley Reynolds of Des Moines, IA; her siblings, Gayle, Margaret, and Bill; and her “adopted” daughter, Julie Proffitt of West Des Moines, IA. Sandy was preceded in death by her dear sister, Susan Morris.
