Julie Leitzinger

Julia (Farris) Leitzinger, 79, of Des Moines died on July 13, 2007 at her daughter’s home in Rockford, Illinois from ALS.
She was born January 12, 1928 in Weeping Water, Nebraska, the daughter of Russell and Rosa Shultz Patterson. She was a graduate of Newton High School and had worked as a supervisor at the Master Card Division at Iowa Des Moines National Bank. She had later worked at the Iowa State Bank in the Loan Department. Julia enjoyed gardening and doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of Jordan United Methodist Church.
Julia is survived by her children Sandra (Dan) Cottrell of Rockford, Illinois, Deborah (Rick) Harper of Greeley, Colorado, Douglas Farris of Des Moines and Scott (Kathy) Farris of Raleigh, North Carolina, 2 brothers, Kenneth Patterson and Donald Patterson, 3 sisters, Doris Patterson, Jane Grimm and Lois Chapman as well as her eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Jack Farris and her second husband Cecil Leitzinger and her brothers Raymond and Ralph Patterson.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home with burial following at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friend from 6-8 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Foundation.
