John Gladwin, 77, died Sunday, June 30, 2013, at his home.
John was born December 9, 1935, in Central City, Iowa, to John Vernon and Sue Ella (Heck) Gladwin.
John was employed by the city of Des Moines before his retirement. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors and was a football and baseball fan.
John is survived by his children, Clarence (Debbie), Mary (Craig) Warner, Gail (Ron) Yeager, and Johnny (Veronica); grandchildren, Nicholas, Billie Jo, Jessie, Elvis, Marilyn, Craig, Ashley, Emily, and Brujon; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Raelynn, Quincy, Colson, Zack, Hunter, Carlton, Brujon, Jr., Albert, Haley, and Austin; brothers, Harold, Mike, and Ronnie; and sisters, Nadine and Sue.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, sisters, Iva and Lou, and son, Curtis Lee.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, July 5, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family in memory of John.

My thought and prayers are with you all. I was so sad to hear of John's passing. My father (Harold) and he were great long time friends. John and I shared the same birthday. I remember visits when I was young coming to your house to play and our parents would laugh and play cards all night. I have fond memories of your fahter. God bless you and be with you in your time of grief. I know how you are feeling...it has only been a year since losing both of my parents.
