Service Details
Les, 90, died June 28, 2013, at Taylor House in Des Moines. He was born April 19, 1923, to Leslie and Estell Hill.
He was in the Army for four years. After the military he graduated from Kansas City business school. Les enjoyed his morning coffee group and golf. He worked for the Railroad his entire career until his retirement at the age of 60.
Les is survived by his wife, Florence of 67 years; nieces; nephews; and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Lee Hill and Sheila Parks.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Altoona Christian Church, 2890 1st Avenue S, Altoona, Iowa, with burial at Altoona Cemetery. Friends may visit with family from 5:30 to 7:30, Monday, July 1, 2013, at the Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 Fourth Street SW.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Dollars for Scholars or Altoona Christian Church.

Les and his quick wit and dry humor will be greatly missed. Every day at coffee someone asked about Les. Now he is playing golf and drinking coffee with the angles.

Florence, My deepest sympathy for the loss of your beloved husband, Les.
We were so hoping he would get out of the hospital and come home and to coffee. Les was a good man with a wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew him.
