Steven Larsen

Steven Richard Larsen, 54, was born January 30, 1959, in Torrance, California, the son of Donald and Denise (Birks) Larsen. He passed away Monday, June 24, 2013, at Taylor Hospice House from complications after a long battle with cancer.

Prior to entering college, he worked at Petterson Line Crew and Dunne Music Company. In 1989, Steve graduated from Lake City Community College in Lake City, Florida with a degree in Turf Grass Management. He worked for many years in the golf course industry at such courses as PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Atlantis in Lake Worth, Florida, Tidewater in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Kiawah Island in South Carolina. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hobby crafting with wood, leather and glass, as well as fishing.

Steve is survived by his mother, Denise Larsen of Altoona, Iowa; brother, Mike (Lisa) Larsen of West Grandby, Connecticut; sisters, Marilyn (Jeff) Vastine of New Brighton, Minnesota and Karen (Stan) Reinemund of Winter Park, Florida; nieces and nephews, Jason (Deanna) Vastine, Rachel Vastine, Kristina Larsen, David Larsen, Elizabeth Reinemund, and John Reinemund; other loving relatives; and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Don Larsen, of Altoona, Iowa.

Cremation has occurred and no services are planned at this time. Contributions may be directed to his mother, Denise Larsen, 1016 3rd St. NW, Altoona, Iowa 50009, to establish a memorial in his name.
