Margaret L. Spriggs

Mother Margaret went home to be with the Lord on June 23, 2013, in Urbandale. She was born on November 28, 1924, in Moberly, Missouri, to Robert and Ruby (Todd) Smith.

Mother Margaret attended public school in Moberly, Missouri.

She worked as the head cook/supervisor at the Fort Des Moines Correctional Facility. She worked also as a care giver. She was a great foster mother as well.

Mother Margaret became a church mother at the early age of 32 years old. She served 60 years of service for the Church of God In Christ. She has been a mother to many. She will truly be missed as she touched many lives.

She is survived by her son, William Tom Robinson of Des Moines, Iowa; goddaughter, Shirley Quinn; six grandchildren, Shella Robinson of North Carolina, Yvette Robinson of Des Moines, Iowa, William Robinson, Jr. of Des Moines, Iowa, De Marco Davis of North Carolina, Ramonte Davis of Des Moines, Iowa, Terry White of Waterloo, Iowa; as well as 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and long-time family friend Herscel, John Quinn and family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Smith; mother, Ruby (Todd) Smith; husband, William R. Spriggs; sister, Dorothy Mae Forbush; and aunt, Thelma Terrell.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at East 17th Street Church of God in Christ, 1639 E University Avenue, Des Moines, with funeral services at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
