Donald McDonald, 57, passed away at his home Sunday, June 23, 2013.
Donald was born August 1, 1955, to Mary Jo (Boots) and Donald McDonald. He graduated from Dowling High School in 1974, and spent his entire working career at R.R. Donnelly. Donald will be remembered as a generous person. He had a big heart and was a gift giver. He loved life and cherished spending time with his family and friends.
Donald is survived by his children, Sarah (Matt) Vorm and Eric (Jess) McDonald; siblings, Deb Overton, Jeff (Juliane) McDonald, and Jerry (Janet) McDonald; step-father, Darrel Mathews; grandchildren, Taylor and Trinity; and nieces and nephews, Sean (Missy) Pelletier and their children, Sam and Ellie and Nicole, Rachelle, Brandon, Bradley, and Marissa McDonald.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald McDonald and Mary Jo Mathews.
A celebration of life will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. All friends are welcome at the visitation to celebrate Donald’s life.

I am so sorry to hear about Donny.I really don't know what to say.We spent so many great times together all through school, little league baseball and just running the neighborhood together.Such a shock to me to loose a close childhood friend.My deepest sympathy to the family.I will always remember the great times we had together.

I was so sad to hear about your Dad. I am sorry I was not able to be there last night to give you all a big hug. You were in my thoughts and will be in my prayers! Donnie and I started out as classmates at All Saints growing up, although he later was a year behind me. I hadn't seen him in many years until he was hospitalized at Mercy several years ago, and I met his daughter at that time who said he was still living in the family home on 13th Street. My condolences to all of Donnie's family - siblings, children, and grandchildren. It is my prayer that Donnie may rest in peace and be at peace.

My sympathy to the McDonald family. I met Donnie in the 70's. We shared some laughs together. One story I remember him telling is that he was trying to get home from work - he needed a car (I don't know if he was walking or how he was getting around) so he just stopped by the Toyota dealer that used to be downtown and bought a truck to get home (anyway that's what he said!). I enjoyed seeing him again at Rendezvous on Riverview. May your memories bring you comfort.

Sorry we will be out of town and can't be at the visitation. Many fond memories as Mary Jo baby sat Greg for quite some time, and had great times with Donnie, Debbie and Papa. Our sympathy is extended. We will send Greg a copy of the obit.

My sympathies to Donnie's family. He was a very nice guy with a great heart. He often talked about his family, kids and grandkids and how much he loved them. May your memories of the time you had with him bring you peace and joy as you deal with the saddness of his loss.
