Gary Bishop

Gary Bishop, 72, passed away Sunday morning, June 16, 2013, from lung cancer.

Gary was born January 17, 1941. He was a self employed contractor all of his life. Gary loved country music and played in many local bands over the years. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, horse racing, and cookouts.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Janet; sisters, Cherrie Bass and Barbara Hupp, both of Indianola; children, Carl (Beth), Gary W. (Jessica), Jerry (Tonya), Gary A., Evelyn (Grant), Lyle (Donna), Jeff (Taffy), Joe (Missi), Dan (Rhonda), Destiney, Dezerae, Jamison, Chaz, and Emajean; 38 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Lyle and Velma Fay Bishop; and sisters, Margaret and Carolyn.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 1 p.m., Friday, June 21, 2013, at North River Cemetery in Indianola.
