Marian Clabaugh

Marian Seehusen was born to Gerd Seehusen and Marie (Doyen) Seehusen on October 5, 1924, on the family’s farm in Pocahontas County, Iowa. She was the second child born to the couple. Her older brother, Albert, was born seven years earlier. Marian attended country school and finished high school, graduating from Pomeroy (Iowa) High School in 1943.

Marian began working at the Iowa Continental Telephone Company for 12 years beginning in December 1944. She met Matthew Clabaugh in September 1958, and they were married on March 13, 1959. Following their marriage, they lived in Pomeroy, eventually moving to Storm Lake in April 1960. They had one son, Gerd, born in 1961.

Marian enjoyed her many friends at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, as well as spending time with family.

Marian passed away at the Bishop Drumm Care Center on Friday, June 14, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents (1967 & 1982), husband (1985), and brother (2004). She is survived by her son Gerd, his wife Jenelle, and four grandchildren (Jacob, Reed, Logan, and Madison).

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 12, 2013, beginning at 11:00 a.m., at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1614 West 5th Street. Storm Lake, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be made to the church, at the same address.
