William "Bill" J. Kinser
June 13, 2013
Bill Kinser died at home on Thursday, June 13, 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Julie; mother & stepfather, Jim & Connie Kinser of Winterset; siblings Tom Bentley of Red Oak, Darcia Ovel (Jeff) of Chatfield, MN, Joel Kinser (Jennifer) of Des Moines, Molly Douglas (Chris) of Urbandale, Stephanie Parsons (David) of Loveland, CO, and Klissie Robbins of Denton, TX; 25 nieces and nephews; and 14 great-nieces and -nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Neil Bentley; grandparents Ray & Veva Gustafson, Oris & Ruth Bentley, and Jack & Phillis Kinser; and father-in-law Darrell Hendricks.
Bill was born Olin William Bentley at Murphy Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, IA, and went home with his parents to a farm near Emerson. Later he moved to Red Oak with his mother and siblings, where he attended Red Oak High School and received his GED. He was a member of the local Civil Air Patrol wing during his high school years and worked at JD’s Café after school. Bill had his name legally changed to William James Kinser on his 18th Birthday.
He entered the United States Marine Corps in January 1984. He served at Camp Lejeune, NC, and in Okinawa, Japan. He received an honorable discharge in 1988. He returned home to Des Moines and worked for Golf Cars Iowa, Eagle Sign, Clark Industries, and Firestone Tire, where he was working on the maintenance crew at the time of his death.
He was united in marriage with Julie Hendricks on June 6, 1992. They resided in the house Julie’s father had built in south Des Moines. Bill was a loving and devoted husband to his wife. He loved to cook, bake, listen to music, and go to concerts. He and Julie traveled whenever they could. Bill loved his family deeply – including his dogs and cats. He loved to laugh and tell jokes. He was a great story teller – even though some were too long! Bill was a loyal friend and a recovering alcoholic and addict; he helped many people find their way to recovery through A.A. He also was an old-car enthusiast and owned several different cars during his lifetime. He will be missed.

Julie and family,
Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to each and every one of you.
Romans 8:38-39
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
May you find comfort in the arms of our Lord.

Julie and family,
You are in my thoughts and prayers. There are no words other than those given to us: Revelation 21:4
He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever." (NLT) May these words comfort you. Lori

Darce, Connie & Jim and Family...I was very saddened to learn of Bill's passing. Bill was one of my Civil Air Patrol Cadets while I was Squadron Commander in Red Oak. Bill was a leader to the younger Cadets and someone I could always count on to get things done or to make people smile. I have many, many fond memories of Bill and will Treasure those times. God's decided to pluck another one of his prised flowers. May God bless you and be with you as you transition through this time of sadness. Chris

Lonnie & I can't put into words the sadness we feel about Bill's death. I'm sorry seems so inadequate. Bill had an amazing smile that seemed to put people at ease. The picture above is how I/we will always remember him. Julie, Joel and the rest of the family you are in our thoughts.

Working with Bill was always a pleasure. He had the best jokes to tell! If you were sad or down he made sure to get you to smile, I will thank him for that for a long time. Bill will be greatly missed, he was a good man and fun to work with.
