Richard Allen “Bubba” Lloyd, II, 53, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013.
Bubba was born November 19, 1959. He graduated from Lincoln High School and followed his passion for cooking by becoming a sous chef. He held this position at various restaurants over the years, most recently at Maxi’s in West Des Moines and the Manhattan Deli. He also enjoyed spending time with his Rottweiler, Nala, who was his baby.
Bubba was preceded in death by his dad, Richard Allen Lloyd, Sr. and his foster brother, Jerry Martin, II. He is survived by his daughters, Nikki, Susie and Heather Lloyd; grandchildren, Jordan, Jermone, Alex, Austin, and Jasmine; sisters, Wanda Mayba and Rita Lloyd Moss; niece, Lesa Lothrigel; foster family, Barb and Jerry Martin, Sr., Kim Young, Al Friedman, Margo and Mike Hector and Bob and Brenda Martin; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family’s account at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, in order to provide transportation for Nala to her new home.

A celebration of life will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Pearson Park, 1256 Pleasant Street in West Des Moines.

Years of fun working with Bubba at Maxie's. And as Mike put it..definite heart of gold under his gruff exterior! He will be missed!

I love my dad with all my heart, I am so very thankful for the time we spent together. Although ill miss him oh so much I am at peace knowing that he is no longer in pain, and is with my daughter in heaven. R.I.P dad. You will truly be missed and never forgotten.

He touched everyone in a different and special way. Loved by so many. BBQ just won't be the same. Our Richie will be greatly missed.

Bubba had a heart of gold behind his gruff exterior. i called him everyday to check on him and every day he said "thank u my friend". I say no Bubba, MY FRIEND...THANK YOU
