Mary Hohrmann

Mary C. Hohrmann, 88, died Sunday, June 8, 2013, at the Mitchell Village Care Center. She was born May 13, 1925, in Iowa Center, the daughter of Tim and Gertrude Conner.
Mary was a member of Bondurant Christian Church, American Legion Auxiliary Bondurant Unit #396 and past president member, State Commander for Navy Mothers of America and a member of Pocahontas Lodge of Colfax. She was a long time leader for the Boy/Girl Scouts, on the steering committee for Legal Aid, and a board member for the Delaware Township Community Center. Mary owned and operated a beauty salon in Maxwell and then Bondurant, as well as other various jobs throughout her career. She served as a volunteer of the Grandma Program at Delaware Elementary, President of the Delaware PTA, and was involved in creating the Southeast Polk School District.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Joan (Doug) Stone, Nancy (Tony) Moreno, Darline Brooks; sons, Allen (Diane Dunlap) Hohrmann, David Hohrmann; 5 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren; She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry; and brothers, Elton, Ralph and John Conner.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 14, 2013, at Bondurant Christian Church, 304 Grant Street South, with burial at Bondurant Cemetery. Friends may visit with family from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Bondurant Christian Church or American Legion #396 in loving memory of Mary.

We are remembering Mary's good spirit, her active life, her willingness to give of herself to the needs of others, her love of God and her ability to have fun. We are blessed to have had her cross our path. May the comfort of God be with her family as this time.

To the family of Mary your mother was a very dear friend to me we shared alot of thing just from talking about family to recipes and hugs and tears when things where sad. She shared with me somethings about her childhood about being the only girl and how her bothers thought she didn't know anything because she was a girl .When her brother died she went to MO to take of things and we had a laugh together because she handle everything and your said to think my brother thought I couldn't handle anything .I'll miss her so much . My thoughts and prayer are with you all
