Russ Taylor

Russ Taylor, 71, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013, at his home.

Russ was born May 9, 1942, in Carroll, Iowa, to Russell and Arlene Taylor. He served in the U.S. Navy. Russ was a longtime security supervisor for Prairie Meadows. Prior to that, he had been a pressman for the Indianola Record & Herald, R&S Press, and Briggs. He had also worked at Kinney’s Shoe Store. Russ was a member of the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was an avid Hawkeye Fan and enjoyed bowling, softball, and golfing.

Russ is survived by his wife of 24 years, Susan; children, John (Melissa Porter) and Mary Lynn (Kevin) McKinney; step-children, Brenda Reed and Barbara Reed; 12 grandchildren; brothers, Len (Kris) Taylor and Terry Taylor; and many nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 14, 2013, at Westover Baptist Church, 2330 62nd Street. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
