Roma C. Lindquist, 93, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013.

Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. until noon, Tuesday, June 11, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines. Interment will take place following at 1:00 p.m. at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.

Should friends desire, memorial gifts in Roma’s memory may be given to the Humane Society of North Texas, 1840 E. Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76103.

Roma was born Aug. 28, 1919, in Des Moines, Iowa. She was the daughter of Otto E. Anderson and Edith J. Berquist Anderson, prominent Des Moines residents.

She graduated from East High School in 1937. She worked as a medical assistant for a large medical clinic in Des Moines for several years. In June 1940, she married Dr. Robert A. Lindquist at Bethany Lutheran Church in Des Moines. After a brief honeymoon, the couple left Des Moines for Sac City, Iowa, where they opened a medical practice. She was a member and an officer of the Order of the Eastern Star. They had two children.

In 1953, the family moved to McAllen, Texas, where they operated a citrus farm and shipping business. She also was an officer and working partner of the Hammond Organ Studios of the Valley and was an executive secretary to the president of Pan American College in Edinburg. She and her husband moved to Fort Worth in 1968. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Roma was predeceased by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 60 years, Dr. Robert A. Lindquist, and son, Jerald B. Lindquist.

Surviving are her daughter, Janice Louise Rodio of Fort Worth; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
